Rave reviews for MeL Databases Training!

These are just a few comments from recent classes taught by the MeL Databases trainers:

It was great!

Great chance to be exposed to these resources, opens up a lot of possibilities.

Lots of tips regarding how to do specific things!

WOW – so useful! Great presentation, easy to follow, allows for self-education.

Great overview — this introduced me to many new features (and I consider myself a regular user).

So much available – I learned a lot.

Great exposure for our staff!

And the BEST kind of reaction — “I went right back to my library the next day and could use a database I learned about to help my patrons!”

For information on scheduling a free class for your staff, contact Suzanne Robinson at MLC.

The Rethinking Resource Sharing Initiative was started to advocate for a complete rethink of the way libraries conduct resource sharing in the context of the global internet revolution. Funding for the 2008 Innovation Awards was provided by the Alliance of Library Service Networks .

To be considered for the award, please submit a description of the user-centric service change you have made that has improved resource sharing in your library, consortium or state. Full details for submission can be found at www.rethinkingresourcesharing.org.

There’s still time to register for MeL Users Day Feb 19!

What’s going on with MeLCat? Where do we stand with NCIP? What’s new with MeL Databases? Where is MeL headed?

MeL Users Day 2008 provides answers to these questions and much, much more! For a detailed agenda and to register online, see:
https://members.mlcnet.org/workshops/viewcourse.html?id=185

MeL Users Day will be held at the Lansing Center on Tuesday, February 19, 2008. In addition to multiple break-out sessions on MeLCat, MeL Databases, and MeL Delivery, this year’s MeL Users Day line-up includes a special Resource Sharing Forum in the afternoon. This is an unstructured open forum for MeLCat users where the presenters will facilitate a discussion of a variety of issues raised by those in attendance. Topics that may be covered include loan periods, work flows, packaging, and anything else that strikes your fancy! There will be an opportunity to ask questions and get input from others who are experienced in MeLCat policies and procedures, including staff members from other MeLCat libraries and MeLCat training/implementation staff.
