Your Library is Invited to Join the Michigan Evergreen Project

What is it?
A shared catalog using the Evergreen open-source integrated library system (ILS) software, facilitated by the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS) and housed on servers at Grand Rapids Public Library (GRPL).

When can new libraries join?
Michigan Evergreen is now open to additional MCLS Member libraries to participate in the shared catalog.

Why are we offering Michigan Evergreen to libraries?
To provide MCLS member libraries a MeLCat-compliant ILS.
To provide libraries an affordable, hosted, open-source ILS option.
To provide participating libraries access to high-quality cataloging records.
To provide a high-functioning system to libraries without tech staff.

How does the Michigan Evergreen shared catalog work?
Cost-share – the participating libraries share the costs of providing the shared ILS, including server maintenance, support/training staff, and related expenses
Staffing – two full-time staff at MCLS, plus contract with GRPL for maintenance
Policies – each library has its own policies re: fines, loan periods, shelving locations, and patrons.  Libraries participating in the shared catalog are required to meet specified standards relating to the quality of cataloging records.
Training – MCLS staff provide training and support services to participating libraries

Does Michigan Evergreen offer services to libraries who want to host Evergreen software on their own servers?
Training services are available to libraries who wish to install the Evergreen software on their own servers.
