Michigan Evergreen

Within the last week, the Evergreen Community has been abuzz, requesting
more from their conference, and the 2010 Evergreen International Conference
Committee is happy to report we’re able to make it so!
We’re  expanding  hackfest  day,  Wednesday, April 21, to include four
additional roundtable discussions.  The morning will feature an Authority
Roundtable facilitated by Shae Tetterton and a Reports Roundtable hosted by
Anoop  Atre  and Jenny Turner.  The afternoon will feature a Sys Admin
Roundtable guided by Evette Atkin and Megan Dudek and a Holds Roundtable led
by Grace Dunbar.  Together, these roundtables form our redesigned Sys Admin
and End User Hackfest.
And how much will these additional sessions add to your conference bill?
Absolutely nothing!  They are included in the one low registration price.
But wait!  There’s more . . .
We’ve lined up not one, not two, not three, but four developers for our Meet
with the Developers, also part of hackfest day.  Spend an hour chatting with
Mike  Rylander,  Bill Erickson, Bill Ott, and Dan Scott as part of the
Hands-On Coding for Developers Hackfest.  All of them will be together in
the same room at the same time–imagine the synergy!

MLC Executive Director Randy Dykhuis will do a presentation on Michigan Evergreen at ALA on Sunday, July 12, at 3:30pm at the Open Source program.

MLC Evergreen staff will demonstrate the Michigan Evergreen open-source ILS at the MLA Conference this week, Booth #7 in the MLA Exhibits.

Booth demos are scheduled for:
Wednesday, 2pm-5pm
Thursday, 7:30am-12noon

Also, MLC and GRPL Evergreen staff will present a program at MLA on Thursday, 1:30pm-2:45pm, in Room Prairies V.

We are scheduled to present programs on Michigan Evergreen at MLA’s Annual Conference in Kalamazoo (Oct. 23, 1:30pm) and at MAME’s Conference in Dearborn (Nov. 7, 1:00pm).  We will also demonstrate
Michigan Evergreen at MLC’s Booth (#7) in the Exhibit Hall at the MLA Annual Conference, Oct. 22-23.

We have also put in a proposal to present a program on Michigan Evergreen at the Rural Libraries Conference in Traverse City, April 29-May 1, 2009.

Michigan Evergreen training will begin next week for Niles District Library (NDL).  MLC staff will be traveling to Niles every Thursday in September to train NDL staff on Evergreen OPAC, circulation, cataloging, and admin modules.  NDL’s scheduled “go live” date is October 6, one week after GRPL goes live on Michigan Evergreen.  September is going to be a busy month for NDL, GRPL and MLC!

In October, we’ll begin training Traverse Area District Library (TADL) staff, with a projected “go live” date in November.  Also in October, MLC and GRPL staff will present a Michigan Evergreen program at MLA’s Annual Conference in Kalamazoo.  If you’re at the MLA Conference and want to learn more about Michigan Evergreen, please come to our program on Thursday or stop by the MLC booth (#6-7) in the Exhibits.
