On February 27, MLC hosted the first meeting of the Michigan Evergreen pilot group. In addition to MLC staff Randy Dykhuis, Evette Atkin, and Ruth Dukelow, representatives were present from Branch District Library, Grand Rapids Public Library, Niles District Library, and Traverse Area District Library.
The group began preliminary discussion of cataloging and OPAC policies and will meet again in early April.

The Traverse Area District Library (TADL) officially joined the Michigan Evergreen pilot group today. In addition to the main library and branches, TADL brings with them three independent member libraries: Interlochen Public Library, Fife Lake Public Library, and Peninsula Community Library. These four libraries join Branch District Library and Niles District Library in the pilot group.

On Tuesday, February 12 MLC hosted a panel in SL on Evergreen! We were pleased to have speakers Don McMorris from Equinox and Tim Daniels from Georgia Public Library Service. The Michigan Library Consortium (MLC) is hosting a free seminar in Second Life on Tuesday, February 12, 4pm SL time (that’s 7pm EST – Michigan time). The seminar will focus on Evergreen ILS open-source software. Our speakers will be Don McMorris from Equinox and Tim Daniels from one of the Georgia libraries using Evergreen.

The first two libraries have signed up to join the pilot group: Branch District Library and Niles District Library. When the remainder of the contracts are signed, we will begin software installation and data conversion/migration.
