Dawn Olmsted Swanson is currently the Head of Technical Services and Metadata, Lead Librarian at the Kettering University Library. She has worked in the library field for over 30 years. Dawn has taught workshops for MCLS and other Michigan library organizations focusing mainly on cataloging and disaster planning topics. Dawn became a NACO Independent Contributor for Personal Authors in 2008 and for Corporate Authors in 2009. She has served and chaired many committees at Kettering University. She earned her BA at University of Michigan, Flint and earned her MLIS at Wayne State University. In her spare time, she is actively involved in her church as well as Boy Scouts of America & Girl Scouts of the USA.
Expanding on what was learned in Assigning LC Call Numbers: Intermediate, this class will teach users how to assign call numbers using 2 cutters. You will learn how to construct complicated cutters for the LC classification. You will learn how to use LC tables. Those taking the class will need access to the classification schedules via the print books or Classification Web. Class can be taken without access to these materials but all exercises in the class may not be able to be finished without them.
You need to have previously taken the Assigning LC Call Numbers Basic and Intermediate classes or have that knowledge prior to taking this workshop.
This class will be online using WebEx online workshop software. All registered attendees will receive an email with WebEx login information a few days prior to the class date.
