The “Planning the Future of Indiana Public Libraries Conference” is on August 9. This conference is especially for directors, trustees, management and reference librarians. It is co-hosted by the ILF, IPLA, and MCLS. Cathy DeRosa of OCLC will begin with a presentation, followed by break-out sessions to tackle concepts gleaned from Ms. DeRosa’s presentation. Experienced facilitators will guide these small-group sessions which will include an analysis of topics and voting on top issues, followed by discussions and brainstorming.
Attendees will:
• gain insight into “information consumers” and their online habits, preferences, and perceptions
• learn how the current economic downturn has affected the information-seeking behaviors and how those changes are reflected in the use and perception of libraries
• break into smaller groups and be guided by facilitators for discussion and brainstorming
• participate by voting on key issues facing Indiana libraries
• present an analysis and some solutions
• determine next step to take the planning of the future of Indiana public libraries to the next level.
The registration price is $85 for ILF members and $125 for non-members. Lunch is included in the registration prices.
