Dukelow to Take New Position at CLIC

Ruth Dukelow

Ruth Dukelow, long-time Associate Director at MCLS, has announced that she will be the next Executive Director of Cooperating Libraries in Consortium (CLIC) in St. Paul, Minnesota. Ruth’s final day at MCLS will be March 1. MCLS will host an open house for Michigan and Indiana library staff on Thursday March 1 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., and everyone is invited to come say farewell to Ruth at the MCLS Offices in Lansing.

“I am sad to leave my Michigan friends and library colleagues, but I am excited about the new position, and my family is thrilled that I am moving back home,” Ruth said. “I’m looking forward to returning to Minnesota and taking on new challenges at CLIC.”

“To say that Ruth has been a tremendous asset both to MCLS and to Michigan would be an understatement,” said Randy Dykhuis, MCLS Executive Director. “Her enthusiasm for libraries has not diminished over the years, and we will miss her energy and creativity. CLIC is fortunate to get someone with Ruth’s skills and knowledge. We wish her all the best in her new job.”

Ruth joined MCLS (then MLC) in 1995 as the OCLC ILL Network Librarian and was named Associate Director in 2001. In one of her many projects, Ruth helped launch the original MeL databases training program in 1997, and she has continued to play a pivotal role in MeL databases training and support. In addition, Ruth has led and developed the MCLS training program, guided group licensing through its early years, and started Michigan Evergreen. Prior to working at MCLS, Ruth was the legal specialist at the Library of Michigan for ten years.  In 2009, the Michigan Library Association named her Librarian of the Year.

Please plan to come to the open house on March 1 and give Ruth your best wishes as she starts her new job in Minnesota.
