In a recent ceremony at the U.S. Supreme Court, Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg administered the oath of office to eight new members of the National Museum and Library Services Board appointed by President Barack Obama. The Board is the advisory body for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and members of the Board are selected to serve based on their expertise and commitment to libraries or museums.
Among the freshman Board members are two high-profile Michigan personalities. Christie Pearson Brandau, former State Librarian of Michigan, comes to the Board as an adjunct professor at the School of Library and Information Management at Emporia State University. And Paula Gangopadhyay, Chief Learning Officer at The Henry Ford, is responsible for leadership and strategy regarding institutional education and learning initiatives across The Henry Ford museum, Greenfield Village, the Henry Ford Academy, and more.
