Today’s workplace is far different than it was just a few years ago. In addition to serving in traditional supervisory roles, library leaders and managers are now expected to be mentors, coaches, planners, futurists, technologists, and cheerleaders. The world has changed, and we can offer new tools to help you adapt. Join us for two days of focused training on some of your top management challenges. This conference will be held March 7 & 8 at the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre in Flint, Michigan. Click for complete information and registration.
Thursday, March 7
While it is true that a succession plan for the director is important, day one of this workshop will help you as a library manager understand that planning for succession needs to occur throughout the organization—not only at the top. You will learn how to identify the key personnel in your department and organization and then how to create a succession plan for those positions.
Friday, March 8
Day two will highlight personnel concerns that managers face on a regular basis. These include managing a multi-generational workforce, making sure that you have the right skills for the services your community is demanding now, finding the right data to demonstrate your value, and retaining key staff. If you are now a manager or plan to become one, these two days will give you important insights to help you manage better.
