Michelle Bradley, Manager of Engagement, Consulting, and Training at MCLS, has announced that she will be the new Director of Consulting at OhioNet. Michelle’s last day at MCLS will be May 7, 2021.
Michelle joined MCLS in October 2014 as the Community Engagement Librarian for Indiana, and was promoted to manage the newly-formed Member Engagement department in 2015. The department changed names in 2018, to Engagement, Consulting, and Training. Prior to joining MCLS, she was Director of Frankfort Community Library in Frankfort, Indiana, and spent more than 20 years in public libraries, primarily in Indiana.
We are pleased to announce that Pamela Seabolt, Library Strategist at MCLS, has accepted the position of Manager of Engagement, Consulting, and Training (ECT), effective May 10, 2021.
Pam joined MCLS as the Community Engagement Librarian in Indiana in 2017, and shifted to Library Strategist in 2020 as our consulting services grew and the ECT team members began serving across both membership states.
The MCLS Virtual Dialogues will continue on Zoom on the third Friday of each month, 11am-12:30pm Eastern (10-11:30am Central). Our next gathering will be on Friday, May 21. Part support group, part visioning, let’s share our thoughts and ideas as we navigate the environment we find ourselves working in right now and look towards the future. These Dialogues are open to all library staff of all levels and roles throughout our two-state Indiana and Michigan region, and beyond.
Watch the email lists for the login link and topic announcement. We look forward to seeing you!

In partnership with the Library of Michigan, MCLS will offer four more training sessions presented by We Can Work It Out, LLC on essential skills for library staff to facilitate effective conversations and meetings this fall. These are additional sessions of trainings taught in past years so that more library staff can benefit.
Because they are funded by the Library of Michigan, these trainings are only open to staff of Michigan libraries. Registration is now open for these small, interactive workshops, so claim your spot today!
This project is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, with additional funding provided by the State of Michigan.
MCLS is always open to new ways to serve and support member libraries, including around open access (OA) publishing and open educational resources (OER), and I’m glad to share that we will join the Open Education Network (OEN) in July as a Consortial Member. OEN is a key resource for those looking to build and operate OER programs that can help faculty identify, adopt, and create OER for students (such as those involved in the Michigan OER Network and the ALI Affordable Learning Committee). OER is widely regarded as a strategy to lower students’ costs, which fosters retention and student success.
Starting June 1, 2021, MCLS will be moving to a new training, workshops, and events registration system, Corsizio. We believe you will find the system to be user-friendly and that it will continue to provide all the benefits of our current system. Since it will look a little different, we wanted to take a few moments to help orient you to the benefits and changes we expect you to encounter.
The main change for our MCLS members is that you will need to begin using a coupon code to receive your member pricing. An email will be going out to all MCLS Member Library Directors, Primary Contacts, and Billing Contacts in mid-May providing your coupon code and more information about the new system.
For more information or to see all upcoming workshops, visit our workshop and event registration page. If you have any questions, please contact us at training@mcls.org.

It also includes much of the content of the print edition prior to 1996.
