Due to the success of the Media Coaching for Librarians program held in 2014 in Michigan, MCLS offered a similar program in Indiana on March 6, 2015, instructing and preparing librarians on interacting with the media.
Librarians need the skills to deliver a clear, consistent message to educate their constituents on the value of libraries, and, in moments of crisis, to effectively present themselves as community leaders. Public relations and media relations professional, Rick Hightower conducted an informative and interactive workshop on media coaching, as well as moderated a panel of news reporters from different media backgrounds, on what the reporters really want.
