I am currently attending the Rural Libraries Conference at the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme, MI. I posted a detailed live blog on my personal blog. Please feel free to comment!

I’m trying to find out if any Michigan librarians are posting videos to YouTube. I’ve heard from a lot of you who are viewing videos on YouTube, but so far no one has admitted to posting videos!
At Computers in Libraries last month, the first InfoTubey Awards were handed out to libraries who used YouTube “to market their library or its services or to enhance the standing of the library in the community.” Click here to see a post about the awards – scroll to the bottom of the post for links to the winning videos.
If you are posting videos to YouTube, please email me dukelow@mlcnet.org or comment below! Thanks!

On April 23, the Canton Public Library launched a new blog at www.cantonpl.org/blog. To encourage a sense of community, the blog extends Canton’s “library as place” to provide an online space for library patrons to gather and explore and to share ideas and resources.
The initial post invites the public to comment, saying, “We’ll feature posts from library staff on topics ranging from books and reading (of course!) to music and film. You’ll also find posts about library resources and events, plus anything else that’s topical and related to our community.
“Add your own posts about things that are happening in and around the Canton community–your favorite books, restaurants, places to go and things to do. We hope that this blog becomes a community bulletin board on which we share the things that make Canton a great place to live.”
Welcome to the blogosphere, Canton PL!
