In the Preparation phase, we work closely with the Library Director to establish a shared understanding of the process, set timelines, and build the foundation for meaningful collaboration. Together, we identify the right people to serve on the Strategic Planning Committee and provide resources to support clear, thoughtful communication with staff and potential committee members. We also facilitate virtual working sessions with relevant library staff as we collaboratively shape and prepare for the Knowledge Gathering phase — ensuring it reflects the voices and priorities that matter most to your organization.

The Preparation phase culminates in a Planning Kickoff with the Strategic Planning Committee — an energizing gathering designed to build excitement, establish a shared understanding of the journey ahead, and strategically identify the community members and leaders whose voices will be essential to the Knowledge Gathering phase. It is here that the real work of planning truly begins — not with documents or data, but with people coming together around a shared sense of purpose and possibility.
